Wondering What to Wear to Fashion Week?
It’s that time of the year again! Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week starts tomorrow at Delhi’s Pragati Maidan. And while there is plenty to look forward to at the shows, the biggest question for the attendees remains – What to wear to Fashion Week?! So when the lovely team over at eStylista asked me if I could dish out some tips on how to dress for the shows, I was more than happy to oblige.

Whether it’s outrageous ideas or subtle creativity, Fashion Week is just the place to experiment, engage and evaluate our sartorial choices. But coming up with what to wear leaves most of us reeling. After all, you have to look the part, or stand out for the right reasons or fit seamlessly in. With Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week SS14 hot on our towering heels, we are looking for inspiration from unconventional places to strike our wardrobes. I have been falling head-over-heels over the bare midriff trend since its revival during the Spring/Summer 2011 shows. But it is something that does not easily translate into a wearable option off the runway especially if we are talking Delhi streets. So I decided to test-drive the trend at fashion week last year, which seems to be one of those very few, sartorially liberating places allowing us fashionistas to embrace our ever-so-bold choices.
The only issue? I hadn’t really invested in a crop top or some such at the time, so I decided to raid my brother’s wardrobe. Yes, that is where the black Sisley shirt came from, teamed with a black Zara maxi skirt. And while black on black for summer can be downright majestic, I decided to break the monotony with a pair of strappy fuchsia heels and studded gold bangles from a local boutique in Singapore.
Neha kept her look chic, simple, and monotone again, adding a matching navy Zara blazer on top of her printed H&M dress, which she paired with nude Aldo pumps and a pastel pink sling-bag. Coats are a great way to add a little structure to light, flirty summer-dresses. The overall look was quite subdued and effortlessly chic. But then it was fashion week she was dressing for, so the addition of perhaps a neon-pink feather brooch for sheer luxe-effect as opposed to necessity was imperative.
So how should you dress up for Fashion Week?
