La Vie Boheme
Celebrating optical excess this past week was London-educated, Pia Pauro’s first flagship store in Delhi’s hip Meherchand Market. Pia, who is clearly a nomadic soul, cleverly translates her global exposure to all things fashion without being predictable.
Keeping in mind the blazing collection, the store interior has been kept relatively muted. By muted, though, we certainly do not mean arid or commonplace. The décor featuring an oh-so-cute Italian canopy, huge mirrors, a nautical rope-clad chandelier and stunning geometric print rugs is much in tune with the insouciant theme of the collection giving you a fit of chic. Stamping her Bohemian signature across an impressive range of ethnic-wear that screams festive, elegant evening wear and of course free-spirited resort wear, Pia’s little island of chic is undoubtedly synonymous with a tropical paradise that instantly raises your spirits.
The collection currently on display is a mix of pieces from her recent Fall/Winter’12 and Spring/Summer‘13 shows. Pia, who is much passionate about vibrant colors, is recognized for diffusing traditional Sindh embroideries with a playful vision. Her designs take the modern Indian woman’s urban uniform a step forward.
From flowy holiday dresses, glam evening wear to festive sarees, the place has something to offer for every possible occasion. While Mexican folk art inspired multi-hued threadwork and beadwork adorn the surfaces of most of the ethnic pieces, the flared-up gowns and kaftans in chiffon and georgette embrace vibrant minimalism in shades of indigo, orange, fuchsia and high-wattage neons. Another thing that’s hard to miss is Pia’s impeccable use of fringe and feathers on clothes and bags alike. Now all you need to complete the “Pia look” is perhaps, a sombrero!
A delight for both buyers and fashion aficionados, Pia Pauro is a label with irresistible allure.
For all your boho-chic needs, head on over to 40, Meherchand Market, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.
